How to Choose the Right Computer

No matter what decision you make when you choose a new computer, make sure you choose the right one for you. When you know there are certain things to look for in any model machine, the mystery surrounding a computer purchase disappears. Here are some basic items to consider as you choose a computer that's right for you. 

1.Determine the purpose of your computer. If you are using it for surfing the Internet and reading your emails, you can get by on a simpler machine than if you plan to do tasks such as video editing or gaming. Decide what specifications you want on your computer. Purchase the highest random-access memory, or RAM, you can afford.

2.Find a computer with the kind of storage capability you need. Purchase the largest hard drive you can afford. Also choose a method of backing up large amounts of material such as CD's or DVD's.

3.Consider monitor sizes. If you have any kind of visual handicap, make sure the monitor is one you can see easily.

4.Look at a variety of computers. Build-your-own computers can be cheaper, but sometimes the warranties and service are not as good. Inquire. 5.Weigh the difference between a desktop and a laptop. If you want the portability of a laptop, figure in the cost of creating a wireless network in your home or office.

6.Go shopping. Look in discount stores, computer specialty stores. Shop online as well. Ask the salesperson if there are any upcoming sales.

7.Know that whatever computer you purchase is going to be the right one for you at least at that moment. Technology changes so rapidly that there's no need to second guess yourself on your computer purchase. Instead, enjoy your new computer.
